Pre-Diabetes Management
What is Pre-Diabetes?
Pre-Diabetes is when your blood sugar levels are higher than normal—but not yet high enough to be classified as type 2 diabetes.
1 in 3 adults in the U.S. has pre-diabetes—most don’t even know it. An A1C reading between 5.7% and 6.4% is considered pre-diabetic.
A pre-diabetes diagnosis serves as a warning sign to implement changes to delay and prevent the development of type 2 diabetes.
There are no noticeable symptoms of pre-diabetes so it is important to know your numbers when it comes to pre-diabetes and diabetes. During your Annual Physical Exam, we test your A1C to let you know where you fall and if you are considered pre-diabetic. Our providers will help advise on lifestyle changes you can make to prevent type 2 diabetes.
Since 2019, Diabetes has been the 7th leading cause of death in America.
96 million Americans are prediabetic, which is 1 in 3 adults. Of those 96 million Americans, 8 in 10 of them don’t even know they’re pre-diabetic. While people often inherit a risk for disease from their families, most chronic illnesses are in fact lifestyle-related that can be prevented. Knowing your numbers is crucial when identifying risk for chronic, preventable conditions such as diabetes.

The Difference Between Pre-Diabetes and Type 2
Pre-Diabetes
Pre-diabetes means elevated blood sugar and is your body’s early warning sign. With the right care, you can get back on track.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is also a chronic disease but occurs when the body does not use insulin properly, which is referred to as insulin resistance. This causes glucose levels to spike or rise higher than normal.
