Detect health issues early on with a Well Woman Exam.

Not only can a Well Woman Exam help you stay on top of your health with preventive care, but it also helps with early detection – which is even more important as you get older and your risk for serious health issues increases. Women’s health needs vary significantly from those of men, and those needs change drastically as you get older. Scheduling routine exams with your provider and making healthy lifestyle choices can not only help make you feel better but prevent future medical problems.

Why a Well Woman Exam is necessary

A routine Well Woman Exam provides women an opportunity to receive preventive care services and discuss with their practitioner ways to minimize health risks and work towards a healthy lifestyle. Women, ages 18-65, should have this exam done on an annual basis to help them get the unique care they need and prevent serious medical issues before they arise.

What to expect at a Well Woman Exam

During your annual Well Woman’s Exam, your provider will begin with a complete medical history and address any concerns or new symptoms. Exams are personalized to each patient and may depend on the woman’s age, physical health, sexual activity, and other health or risk factors. Services may include: a breast examination to look for early signs of breast cancer, a pelvic exam with a Pap smear and/or HPV screening, a general exam, immunizations, and more. Your provider will also discuss additional health recommendations and provide educational counseling based on their assessment.

Why your health should be a priority

We know life gets busy, and the number of responsibilities on your plate can be overwhelming. Whether it’s work, caring for your family, or trying to keep your home in order – women are often pulled in a million directions. Tending to others before yourself may come naturally, but your health is a priority and shouldn’t be placed on the back burner.

Ladies, make your health a priority

What is Preventive Care?

Regular preventive care, such as a yearly physical, wellness checkup, or well-woman exam, can help you stay healthy and catch any potential health issues early on. Our goal is to help you understand the benefits of your preventive visit and any out-of-pocket costs you might have, so you can take advantage of the care you need to stay healthy.

Are Preventive Care visits covered?

We want to make sure you’re informed about potential out-of-pocket charges that may occur during your preventive office visit. While most preventive visits are covered at no cost to you, you may be charged for certain things, such as:

  • Discussing new symptoms or health concerns that are discovered during your visit
  • Receiving treatment or testing for an existing health condition
  • Undergoing procedures such as spirometry, EKGs, or biopsies
  • Having labs or radiology tests that are not considered preventive

If you’re unsure about your lab or radiology benefit, we encourage you to refer to your Insurance carrier for benefits and coverage. Our team is here to help you understand these potential charges, so you can make informed decisions about your care.
