Aylo Selects Two Family Values Award Winners
July 16 • 2019
On June 4th, Aylo Health, Hines Ward, and Positive Athlete teamed up once again to host the Fifth Annual Georgia Positive Athlete Awards, for a way to encourage and recognize young student-athletes.
As Hines Ward said, “We did not put out a search for the best athletes in Georgia. We put out a search for kids with positive attitudes, whose efforts don’t necessarily show up on the stat sheet.” Ward continues, “These kids are also positive role models in their schools, who get involved in charitable causes and have already learned the meaning of giving back at an early age; and many have overcome difficult circumstances and remained positive.”
This year, we were honored to give away two Family Values Awards to well-deserving, positive high school athletes; Madeline Crawford and Antaures Jackson.
The first recipient, Madeline Crawford, is a Senior at Ola High School, who’s also a part of several sports teams, including, Swimming, Cross-Country, and Soccer. Although she’s a stellar athlete, her qualities excel when it comes to her loving and caring heart for others. At the beginning of Madeline’s Junior year in August 2017, her mother was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and Mal’s been by her side ever since. Through a variety of Chemo treatments and radiation, Madeline hasn’t slowed down one bit to care for her mom, but instead, keeps a positive attitude through it all.
While it’s evident that her family comes first, Mal is also the Ola High School’s SGA Executive President, with over 1,600 students. On top of that, she helped Ola win their fifth consecutive Henry County Swim Championship, competing in four of the championship teams herself. Talk about a dedicated daughter, student, and teammate! However, sports are not her only gift in life. With an entrepreneurial driven heart and a desire to help her family, Madeline started her very own business to help with personal expenses and relieve the weight of her mother’s medical expenditures; all while maintaining a 4.19 GPA, and not to mention being a part of the National Honors Society, Beta Club, and Rho Kappa Honor Society. You think that’s impressive? Through it all, she still found time to serve her community, completing over 200 service hours.
The second recipient is Antaures Jackson, a Senior from Eagles Landing High School. Antaures sets high standards for himself and works diligently to achieve his goals. He ended his freshman year by earning a Varsity Letter and becoming a state-level contender in three sports; Cross-Country, Wrestling, and Track & Field. He also played ninth-grade football and was chosen to display his project at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair – all while leading his Cross-Country team to the state podium at the championship meeting during his Sophomore year.
Though he’s a talented athlete and committed teammate, Antaures still strives for excellence in the classroom. His hard work and discipline as a student have contributed to his ability to maintain a 4.3 GPA, but his character and heart for others are what stand out most. Those that have the privilege of knowing him will say his kind nature, strong moral fiber, and sense of ethics are what make him the person he is. Throughout the last few years, he’s served his community through peer tutoring, delivering holiday gifts and food baskets to those less fortunate, volunteering at a shelter for homeless pregnant teens, and helping with a Youth mission trip for his church.
Nominees selected for this award are those that have a positive attitude, a strong and encouraging leader mentality, a heart to give back, and love others, all while giving 100% of themselves. It’s apparent that our two winners have these characteristics instilled in the people they are and strive to be.
Aylo Health is honored to celebrate in the victories of Madeline Crawford and Antaures Jackson and congratulate them on all their success and achievements thus far. Not only are they exceptional students and athletes, but their drive to love and care for others is what truly sets them apart from the rest.
