A Healthier Halloween Cookie Experiment

Halloween Cookie Recipe

We tried a healthy twist on Halloween cookies… and let’s just say, not every spooky treat is a scream (in a good way).

Halloween is often fueled by candy and sugar overload, but at Aylo Health, we’re always looking for ways to enjoy the season with a healthier spin. This year, we tested out a “Spooky & Secretly Healthy” cookie recipe made with chickpeas, spinach, oats, and other better-for-you ingredients.

The goal? A festive treat that you could feel great about sharing with your kids or keeping all to yourself.

Here’s What We Used:

  • 1.5 cups cooked or canned chickpeas
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3 handfuls of baby spinach
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Optional: Chocolate chips for spooky faces

And Here’s What We Learned:

While this “cookie” dough was full of nutrient-packed ingredients (think protein, fiber, potassium, and even hidden greens), the end result didn’t exactly have us coming back for seconds. The texture was soft, the flavor was subtle, and while they were technically edible, they weren’t winning any bake-offs.

Final verdict?

Healthy, yes.

Spooky-fun? Also yes.

Delicious? Not quite.

But we loved the idea behind it and the reminder that trying something new (even if it flops) is part of the journey to better health.

Why We’re Still Sharing It

Not everything has to be Pinterest-perfect to be worth talking about. Whether your cookies are a hit or a hilarious miss, the real win is making mindful choices, getting your family involved, and having fun along the way.

If you’ve got a better recipe that sneaks in the veggies (and still gets gobbled up), we’d love to hear it! Share your tips in the comments or tag us @aylohealth on Facebook or Instagram.
