Well-Child Visit

Preventive care visits tailored to your child to meet them where they are.

What is a Well-Child Visit?

A Well-Child Visit tracks the growth and developmental milestones of your child.

During a Well-Child visit at Aylo Health, all of your concerns regarding your child’s health will be addressed. These are important for preventative care to reduce future illnesses and are found to improve health quality by keeping track of your child’s physical, emotional, and social development.

Recommended for infants, to kids starting at age 4+ at Aylo Health primary care offices, and for infants to age 18 at Aylo Health — Pediatrics at Ellenwood.

Schedule an Appointment

Roughly 6 million children under the age of 5 die each year from preventable causes.

Providing access to quality pediatric care and services (like a Well-Child Visit) is essential and can help reduce the risk of fatal preventable issues, by ensuring that children receive the necessary and recommended vaccinations, screenings, and treatments to help keep them healthy and prevent illness and disease.

At the first meeting of my well child visit, I felt so comfortable with Dr. Hernandez! She was attentive, observant, quick, and considerate. I look forward to having my children build a relationship with her as their PCP.

What to expect during your Well-Child visit

During this visit, the health care professional will check the child’s growth and development. This may include birth history, necessary screenings, sleep and diet, social behaviors, and more.

The provider will also record appropriate information such as the child’s weight and height. This visit will also allow opportunities for parents to ask questions for age-appropriate guidance.

What is Preventive Care?

Regular preventive care, such as a yearly physical, wellness checkup, or well-woman exam, can help you stay healthy and catch any potential health issues early on. Our goal is to help you understand the benefits of your preventive visit and any out-of-pocket costs you might have, so you can take advantage of the care you need to stay healthy.

Are Preventive Care visits covered?

We want to make sure you’re informed about potential out-of-pocket charges that may occur during your preventive office visit. While most preventive visits are covered at no cost to you, you may be charged for certain things, such as:

  • Discussing new symptoms or health concerns that are discovered during your visit
  • Receiving treatment or testing for an existing health condition
  • Undergoing procedures such as spirometry, EKGs, or biopsies
  • Having labs or radiology tests that are not considered preventive

If you’re unsure about your lab or radiology benefit, we encourage you to refer to your Insurance carrier for benefits and coverage. Our team is here to help you understand these potential charges, so you can make informed decisions about your care.
